XTERRA Beaver Creek is honored to be selected as the Mountain Championship Race in the XTERRA America Tour. The feature event promises to showcase the best off-road racing in the Rockies. Multi-sport and adventure racing legend, Mike Kloser, and XTERRA local Pro, Josiah Middaugh, continue to refine a true championship course designed to test athletes’ endurance and strength at altitude.

A $10,000 pro prize purse and amateur age-group prizes will draw rookies, experienced XTERRA athletes, and an accomplished Pro field from around the world. Race next to the top athletes in off-road racing as they challenge themselves at altitude in Beaver Creek, Colorado – Saturday, July 16, 2011.

Make it a Weekend!
  • A shortened Sport Distance course is also offered for those athletes not quite ready to leap into the full XTERRA event. Points are not awarded for this race.
  • A free kids' duathlon is offered at Beaver Creek Resort. The start time is 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Kids will complete a short mountain bike ride, followed by running loops around the base of Chair 6, Centennial Lift.
  • The Paul Mitchell Cut-A-Thon, from 10:00a.m. - 2:00 p.m on Saturday near the finish line, a benefit for Challenged Athlete Foundation  
  • Patagonia will be offering 30% off during the Xterra weekend. Visit the Patagonia tent for details. Patagonia will also be hosting a showing at the Coyote Cafe of “180 South,” a documentary film following adventurer Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard (Patagonia Founder) and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia, Argentina. Total running length for film is 87 minutes. The Coyote Café will be offering 15% off entries and drink specials on PBR during the film. Click here for the 180 South poster.

  • Stick around Sunday and RUN! Sunday, the 17th will feature a trail half marathon, and a 10k event. Maybe we’ll even get a few athletes daring enough to double-up and race both days! Registration is open and course maps and descriptions on our website are current.

  • XTERRA Triathlon Full Course Details (Saturday, July 16): 1 mile swim, 15.5 mile mountain bike, 5.75 mile run
    A 2 lap, 1 mile swim in Avon’s Nottingham Lake will kick off the point-to-point event.
    T1 will send racers out on the pavement and provides a chance to get the legs cranking for the off-road uphill climb along the trails of Bachelor Gulch, Arrowhead and Beaver Creek. Rolling singletrack brings riders into T2 at the base of the Centennial Lift in Beaver Creek Village. Runners hit the trails for 5.75 miles through aspen glades, returning to the base of Beaver Creek Village for the post-race party!
    XTERRA Sport Triathlon Course Details (Saturday, July 16): .5 mile swim, 9 mile mountain bike, 3 mile run
    Please note, XTERRA American Tour age-group points will not be awarded for this distance.
    A 1 lap, .5 mile swim in Avon’s Nottingham Lake will starts off this point-to-point event.

    Half Marathon Trail Run (Sunday, July 17)
    Racers will enjoy a scenic and challenging out and back around the trails of Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch. A full 13.1 off-road miles, the course features a mix of singletrack, and double track terrain, gaining approximately 2,400 feet of elevation throughout the distance.
    10K Trail Run (Sunday, July 17)
    Athletes will retrace Saturday’s full XTERRA run course gaining approximately 1,300 feet of elevation.
