1.5 Kilometer Open Water Swim
A1.5 kilometer swim in Avon’s Nottingham Lake will kick off the point-to-point race.
This is a 2 lap, rectangular course
and a 10 minute warm up is allowed before the race begins. Average water temperature is between 67 and 71 degrees.. Water temperature is being closely monitored and a decision about whether or not wetsuits will be allowed will be made by Friday at
3 p.m. prior to packet pick-up. As of 8/4/08, wetsuits are permitted by all participants. Any swim questions can be directed to Karl Edgerton, the race swim coordinator. 970.390.9664.
25 Kilometer Mountain Bike
After Transition #1 (T1), ride out to pavement and get ready for approx. 3,500 ft of elevation gain. The off-road uphill climb goes along the trails of Bachelor Gulch, Arrowhead and Beaver Creek.
8 Kilometer Trail Run
After Transition 2 (T2), runners climb from Beaver Creek Village for a trail run. There is an elevation gain of approximately 1,000 feet. Beaver Creek Village is at 8,300 feet above sea level.

Gear Set-up and Logistics
- Transition areas will open at 6:30 a.m.
- Drive to Beaver Creek, and set up T#2 first. Temporary parking will be available at the Beaver Creek Village Transportation turn-around (Gear Drop Zone) located just above the Ford Hall Parking Garage Entrance and before the Beaver Creek Chapel on Village Road.
- Drop off all your running gear for T#2 (Bike to Run) on the lawn next to the base of Centennial Lift (Chair #6).
- Drive back down the hill and park at the Beaver Creek Bear lot, approximately 1/2 mile west on Hwy 6 of the main Beaver Creek roundabout across from Agave Restaurant at the stop light.
- Ride your bike to the Start / T#1 located on the East end of Nottingham Lake in Avon.
- Swim gear from T#1 will be transported by race personnel to the finish area in the numbered bag given to you at athlete registration.
- After the race you can either ride your bike back down the hill to your vehicle or catch a free Village Transportation shuttle back to the Bear Parking lot.

3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Packet pick-up & number/chip pick-up and late registration (if event is not sold-out) at Beaver Creek Registration Center (Base of Centennial Lift (Chair #6) by Starbucks – one escalator level down from Chairlift.) There will be no day-of registration.
5:00 p.m XTERRA Clinic with Pros Melanie McQuaid and Josiah Middaugh at the Beaver Creek Registration Office, near packet pick-up location. This will be a casual Q & A format with two of the best XTERRA athletes on the circuit..
8/9 Saturday
6:30 a.m. T1 & T2 Open. Body marking and helmet check at T1.
6:30 - 8:00 a.m On site packet & number/chip pick-up from at TA#2 (base of Beaver Creek)
8:00 a.m. T2 closes. All athletes should make their way to the start of the course in Avon..
8:40 a.m. Safety and Course briefing at swim entrance, Nottingham Lake, Avon
8:50 a.m. Swim warm-up
9:00 a.m. Pro-wave + Amateur Men's swim start
9:03 a.m. Amateur Women's swim start
11:00 a.m. First finisher expected
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. BBQ Lunch served on Beaver Creek Plaza at McCoy's

Setting Up Transition Areas
Drive up Village Road approximately 3 miles to the Beaver Creek Village Transportation Pick-up lot (Gear Drop Zone) located just beyond the Village Hall parking garage on the left side of the road. Drop off your running gear for TA #2 (Bike to Run) on the lawn next to the base of Chair #6/ Centennial Lift. Drive down Village Road and park at the Beaver Creek Bear lot, approximately, 1/4 mile west of the main Beaver Creek round-about. Ride your bike over to the Start/TA #1 located on the East end of Avon lake. After the race, you can either ride your bike down to your vehicle in the Bear Parking Lot or catch the free Beaver Creek shuttle bus back down to the Bear Parking lot. Your swimming gear will be brought up to TA #2 by race staff in the bag you will receive at race registration. Plan your gear bags accordingly.
